There is no denying that it is difficult to find that motivation to exercise in Winter when the weather is cold and you feel like you are surrounded in constant darkness at both ends of the day.
Motivation can be regained however by following two easy principals.
The first is defining a goal or target to aim for. The second is understanding the positive effects your actions with exercise will have on your life.
Considering these two points makes it much easier to wrestle with that voice in your head that tells you it’s too cold.

Train for an event
Whether you’re looking to do a fun run, a walk, a swim or a cycling event, training can help. Why? Because you have a goal in mind and you don’t want to be the last person to cross the finish line now do you?
By working out with a friend, you may be likely to let yourself down, but far less likely to let someone else down who is dependent on you. It’s strange really but it really helps.
Remember the saying every little bit counts? Well, it’s true as much as it is for eating as it is for exercise. Go for a slow jog, have a gentle Pilates or yoga class. These actions help you reframe the way that you feel about exercising.
You won’t have to face the elements if you get yourself to your local Pilates or Yoga studio. You can even do exercise in the comfort of your own home, all you may need is a mat and a video.
Obviously not with a thick shake from McDonalds, but rewarding yourself with some new exercise gear, a massage or something else that is self-indulgent and promotes self-care will help you maintain your exercise mojo.
If all else fails, book yourself a holiday to somewhere warm. The thought of wearing bathers is enough to motivate most.
